SparseBox unlocks hidden features on older devices running iOS 16, 17, and 18 without requiring a jailbreak. Utilizing the SparseRestore exploit, it injects custom code through the backup mechanism. Developer Duy Tran Khanh has cleverly implemented this on-device using a local VPN.
By integrating SparseRestore with technologies from the SideStore IPA installer, including minimuxer and WireGuard VPN, SparseBox offers a local host configuration. Although the setup can be complex and lacks an official guide, it shows promise for the jailbreaking community.
After installing SparseBox and running the WireGuard VPN, you can adjust settings similar to those of tools like MisakaX or Nugget. Keep in mind that you’ll need to disable Find My iPhone, similar to modifying MobileGestalt with desktop tools.
SparseBox provides a variety of customizable toggles, such as the Action Button, iPadOS app installation, Always On Display mode for iOS 18.0, Apple Pencil support, boot chime, camera button (iOS 18 RC), charge limit, crash detection, Dynamic Island, internal storage info, Metal HUD for all apps, Stage Manager, and Tap to Wake for the iPhone SE.
The latest nightly build adds support for Apple Intelligence, allowing you to spoof your device model as an iPhone 15 or 16, which is necessary for downloading AI models. However, be aware that this may disable Face ID.

As an open-source project under the AGPL-3.0 license, SparseBox’s source code and exploit are available on GitHub. How to Install SparseBox on iOS
To install SparseBox, you’ll need to establish a VPN connection and pair it with your PC. This setup is required only once or after restarting your iPhone. After the initial configuration, SparseBox can apply system changes without reconnecting to your desktop.
Follow these steps to install SparseBox on your iOS device:
Step 1: Download the SparseBox IPA and install it using your preferred IPA installer.
Step 2: Install the WireGuard VPN app from the App Store.
Step 3: Import the SideStore configuration file into the WireGuard app.
Step 4: Download Jitterbugpair (not Jitterbug) for your OS (Windows, Linux, or macOS).
Step 5: Connect your iPhone or iPad to your computer with a USB cable.
Step 6: Open your terminal, run Jitterbugpair, and follow the instructions.
Step 7: The [UDID].mobiledevicepairing file will be saved in Jitterbugpair or your home directory.
Step 8: Open the SparseBox app and select the pairing file (.mobiledevicepairing).
Step 9: Disable Find My iPhone in the Settings app.
Step 10: Launch the WireGuard app and enable the SideStore configuration.
Now you can open the SparseBox app and start applying tweaks. Ensure the “Reboot after finishing restoring” option is enabled. Errors will appear in prompts or on the log screen for easy tracking. If the minimuxer isn’t ready, make sure your Wi-Fi is connected and the VPN is on.
How To Install Nugget IPA with AltStore
Step 01. install AltStore on your iOS device.
Step 02. Download the Nugget IPA file.
Open the AltStore app on your device and go to the “My Apps” tab.
Step 03. Tap the plus “+” icon at the top, then browse and select the Nugget IPA file you downloaded.
Step 04. If it’s your first time using AltStore, you will be asked to enter your Apple ID and password. AltStore requires it to sign the app so it can be installed. We recommend you use a burner account.
Step 05. The app will begin to install and once completed, you can open it from your Home screen.
How to Install SparseBox IPA with Sideloadly
Step 01. Download the latest version of Sideloadly for Windows or macOS and install it on your PC.
Step 02. Download the SparseBox IPA file from this page and save it to your computer.
Step 03. Connect your iOS device to your computer using a USB cable.
Step 04. Open the Sideloadly app on your PC.
You may be prompted to install the Mail Plug-in. Click the “Yes” button to continue.
Enter your Apple ID email under the “Apple account” field.
Step 05. Drag and drop the SparseBox IPA file into the IPA field shown on the left side of the interface. The field is represented by an IPA image.
Step 06. Click the “Start” button to begin the sideloading and installing the IPA.
When prompted, enter your Apple ID password. The tool uses your Apple ID to sideload the app. We recommend you use a burner account.
Step 07. Sideloadly will begin installing SparseBox IPA on your iOS device.
Step 08. Once the app is installed, could you not open it yet? You must verify your Apple ID profile if it’s your first time using Sideloadly. To do it, go to Settings > General > Device Management. Tap on your Apple ID and press the Trust button. Tap on Trust again from the popup alert.
Step 09. Now go to the Home screen to open the installed app.
